Coastal Foraging

What You'll Find

A glimpse into our seasonal wild harvest.

Spring

As the frost thaws, the landscape erupts with fresh, tender greens. We look for wild garlic, birch sap, young nettles, and wood sorrel. These early shoots provide intense, crisp flavors perfect for vibrant dishes.

Summer

The warmer months bring a profusion of edible flowers, meadowsweet, wild berries, and lush coastal greens. Summer foraging is colorful and abundant, offering delicate garnishes and sweet rewards.

Autumn

The quintessential foraging season. The damp, cooling earth yields an incredible variety of wild fungi, alongside hearty roots, nuts, and late-season berries. A rich and earthy harvest.

What To Bring

Practical Footwear

Sturdy, waterproof walking boots are essential. The terrain can be muddy, uneven, and slippery, especially near the coast or deep in the woods.

Weather-Ready Clothing

Dress in warm, comfortable layers. A waterproof jacket is highly recommended, as coastal breezes and forest microclimates can change quickly.

A Reusable Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is important during our multi-hour walks. We will provide a warming wild tea halfway through, but please bring your own water.

A Basket or Cloth Bag

While we provide group collection baskets, bringing your own small woven basket or breathable cloth bag is perfect if you wish to take a few samples home.

Common Questions

Are walks suitable for children?

Older children with a keen interest in nature are welcome, but the terrain and duration are generally suited for adults and teenagers. Please ask when booking.

Can I eat what we find immediately?

Safety is our primary concern. We ask that guests never consume any wild plant or fungi without the explicit verification and instruction of our expert guides.

What happens if it rains?

We walk in all safe weather conditions. A damp environment is often best for foraging! If conditions pose a safety risk, we will reschedule or offer a full refund.

Do I need prior experience?

Not at all. Our walks are designed to be accessible, informative, and engaging for complete beginners as well as those looking to deepen existing knowledge.
